Updated: Apr 25, 2023

FEDIP are delighted to re-open the Future Digital Leader bursaries.

Formerly the 35 under 35 bursary programme, this year we will be opening the applications to all those who are in their early health and care informatics careers.

The programme will provide a year’s membership to one of the FEDIP Professional Bodies and paid-for places at the Digital Health Networks Summer Schools 2023, 27th -28th July (held at the University of Birmingham).

Application deadline 10th May 2023.

What is the Future Digital Leader Programme?

The Future Digital Leader programme has been created to help identify, promote and support future digital leaders and future talent in the UK health informatics and digital health and care sector.

FEDIP has pledged to demonstrate its commitment to success through diversity by supporting broad and inclusive pathways into the health and care informatics profession by working with the professional bodies and with employers.

The bursary will cover a place at the Digital Health Networks Summer School and one-year membership of the following FEDIP Professional Bodies :

  • Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts (AphA)

  • The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS)

  • The Chartered Library and Information Association (CILIP)

  • Institute of Health Records and Information Management (IHRIM)

  • The Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FCI)

If you are currently a member of a FEDIP professional body, the bursary can be used to cover the FEDIP registration fee.

You will also be invited to a series of webinar events designed to help create a supportive network of peers and to introduce participants to current industry leaders to learn more about ongoing projects and reflect on their career paths so far.

Why Apply?

Benefits of the Programme

This is the second year of the bursary programme. We have been delighted with the feedback from the first cohort of participants, who highlighted the benefits of being connected to a diverse group of peers from clinical and non-clinical roles across the profession.

In addition to their bursary places, the group were invited to attend virtual presentations from leaders in the profession, including Sonia Patel (System Chief Information Officer, NHS England), and an update on the Phillips Ives Review progress from Programme Lead (Nursing) Tracey Eyre. There were also plenty of in-person events as well, such as Summer School, Digital Health Rewired, the FEDIP annual dinner and welcome events from the professional bodies.

The alumni group now look forward to welcoming the next cohort of future leaders.

A Place at Digital Health Summer School

Digital Health Summer Schools will be held on the 27th-28th July 2023, at the University of Birmingham.

Summer Schools will explore the evolving challenges of being an effective digital leader in the NHS and the different dimensions of leadership roles.

The event will provide the opportunity to network and reflect on what it means to lead on digital, explore how roles have evolved and debate what support leaders now need.

You will enjoy two days of CPD-accredited content, rewarding education, networking, and best practice exchange, and have a unique opportunity to learn from the very best digital health leaders from across the UK.

Delegates are also invited to join us on Wednesday 26 July for a pre-event evening social.

Professional Body Membership

Joining a Professional Body is about being recognised as a competent, ethical and accountable professional who’s using tech for good in the health and care profession.
