FEDIP Statement on Recent Announcements Impacting the Health and Care Workforce

Sarah Scriven

As the Federation for Informatics Professionals in Health and Care, we recognise the deep uncertainty and concern that recent announcements about cost reductions and structural changes within the NHS will bring to many professionals in our field. Many of the dedicated professionals on our register will be directly affected by these changes. While structural change can bring both challenges and opportunities, in the short term, it can cause real anxiety for those unsure of what the future holds.

In times like these, the importance of a strong and resilient professional workforce becomes even clearer. Health and care informatics professionals play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care, and their expertise is crucial to the sustainability of our health and care systems.

FEDIP is committed to advocating for the value of professional recognition and standards in health informatics. We will continue to work with stakeholders across the sector to support registered practitioners and ensure their contributions are recognised and protected.

We encourage all practitioners to engage with their professional body networks for support and to uphold the standards that make this profession indispensable, regardless of organisational change.

Now more than ever, maintaining a united, professional voice is essential.

We encourage you to contact us if you have concerns or would like to share your perspective. Together, we can navigate these changes and continue to strengthen the profession for the future.
